Dear GCS Families,
Groton Community School certainly spread plenty of LOVE this month in honor of Valentine’s Day, as we had a week full of heart-shaped fun and celebrations of friendship, kindness and caring. This time of year, is always a perfect opportunity for literacy experiences. It was so exciting to see growth and skill as children took charge creating, matching, writing and carefully selecting cards for their special friends and teachers. Thank you to our families, as we appreciate your party donations and your dedication and time in helping to create a special Valentine’s Day in class for your children.
REGISTRATION
With Registration for next school year in full swing, we have been working diligently on placements, and your acceptance letters have been distributed to current classrooms for family pick up. See your child’s hall bag/mailbox, and feel free to stop by or call with any questions or concerns. This is definitely a timely and tedious process, and we appreciate your patience as we work to accommodate the many needs and wishes. We are also hosting our Annual Open House this Sunday from 11 AM to 1 PM if you have any friends or neighbors who may be looking for a preschool program either now or in the future.
100 DAYS!
With Registration, also comes 100 DAYS of School!! It is a tradition here at GCS for our Kindergarten Program to commemorate this milestone of learning and fun with a 100 Day Museum display, along with an exciting day of celebrations and activities. Debbie and Laura (Kindergarten Teaching Staff) worked above and beyond to make this day memorable for all, and we are so grateful. Each of your children were able to visit this Museum with their class to see the many special projects on display. Be sure to ask them about it, as I am sure they will want to tell you about the 100 EYED MONSTER and the 100 LOLLYPOPS they encountered on their visit.
COMMUNITY ROOM
As we shared with you several weeks ago, we are undergoing the final steps of completing our Community Room for our Forward Motion Project. Progress is moving along nicely, and we are on schedule. Fortunately, there have not been any disruptions to our school. We are counting the days with excitement that we will have this additional space for large motor experiences, school and family events, community gatherings, and so much more. We will continue to be diligent in safety and oversight, and keep you in the loop in terms of timing. In the meantime, enjoy these few photos of progress.
PARKING LOT
A special thank you to Tim Siok and his team from Tim Siok Landscaping for their amazing and meticulous care of our parking lot, sidewalks, and emergency exits during this wintery weather. They are very attentive to our needs and our timing to be ready for our 8am opening, and we are grateful. We do continue to ask for your assistance in using care when driving in and out of the parking lot, as well as being courteous of our neighbors by not using their parking spaces during their operating hours. Feel free to pull up to the front door and ask us to help with walking your children into class if you are short on time and need assistance.
THANK YOU!
Thank you to our Stock the Staff Room volunteers for February donations: Madiha Ashour, Lauren Bushery, Jillian Doyle, Kara Dumont, Kristen Lampros and Sarah Wishart – Always appreciated!
Thanks to the BIG Room Parents and Families for providing lunch for “Fun Friday” today!
We’d like to thank the following families for their contributions to GCS this month: The Tomaino family for Dr. Seuss books and to the Doyle & Stebbins family for Staff snacks.
Until next time…
