March 12, 2020
Dear GCS Families,
Groton Community School will be closed for children and families tomorrow, Friday, March 13th.
The health and safety of GCS children, families and staff is a top priority. Our school staff and cleaning company have been diligent in performing routine environmental cleaning routines, with even greater awareness during seasonal influenza season, and now with the increasing attention regarding the coronavirus outbreak.
We have been informed that the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District is closed tomorrow, March 13th for deep cleaning, out of an abundance of caution. We have no cases of confirmed, presumptive, or even suspected cases of COVID-19 at our school. However, Groton Community School will follow suit with the public school system, with staff performing additional deep cleaning measures as well. We will also consult with our local Board of Health once again and our MA Early Education and Care Licensing Agency to seek their guidance as the situation evolves.
We do not take school closures lightly, and apologize to families for the inconvenience. However, in light of growing concerns, it seems prudent to take this initial step for health and safety.
We will contact families with more information as it becomes available.
