On Board Newsletter Spring 2025

On Board Newsletter, Spring 2025

Happy Spring!

In this newsletter, we are going to reflect on some of our winter activities and upcoming opportunities this spring. Our 20th Anniversary Home Tour was a successful community event in November, raising over $30,000 for the school. Thank you for your donations, support, and volunteering your time!

It was fun to see so many friends at the school-wide playdate at The Mill Works in Westford on Curriculum Day! Please join us for our next parent book club meeting on April 7th discussing Frozen River and look for our walking club meet ups. The Spring Spruce Up will be held on April 12th. We hope to see you then! Don’t forget to follow GCS on social media for updates and events let us know how the Board of Directors can support you. We are here to represent and help families!

We have a few positions on the Board of Directors opening up next school year. We particularly need someone with accounting experience for our Treasurer position and someone with interest in our Buildings and Grounds Co-Chair position. Please consider this amazing opportunity to be more connected with the school and other parents.

Warmly,

Kaitlyn Brokaw, President, GCS Board of Directors

Buildings and Grounds Update:

As the Buildings & Grounds Co-Chairs, we take great pride in making sure the playground is fun, safe and that the children have had the best experience this year. It is a true labor of love. If you are interested in pitching in with any task or projects, please reach out (anytime) to Jessica Barie and Jesi Clinton at
buildingsandgrounds@grotoncommunityschool.org

A great way to give help out is the Spring Spruce Up! Save the date, Saturday April 12, 2024 9-3pm, and help wake up the GCS playground for spring and summer playtime. With your help, we are able to tackle a huge list of projects in a very short period of time.
As the saying goes “many hands make light work”. Please consider donating your time and skills to GCS.

Parent Representative Update

This year is flying by and with the help of the amazing GCS community, it’s turning out to be a great one! Our 2024-2025 room parents have been hard at work, helping school events and classrooms run smoothly. To highlight a few things our amazing room parents have done this year, we would like to say thank you for coordinating many great “Fun Fridays” for our amazing teachers, collecting and creating beautiful Chance Baskets for Home Tour, and organizing teacher holiday gifts.

We would also like to show great appreciation for all who have contributed to ongoing efforts throughout the year such as our monthly “Stock the Staffroom”, which provides the teachers with extra snacks and drinks each month. The collaborative effort of our parent volunteers is a huge part of what makes this community so special! Thank you to all – your generosity does not go unnoticed!

Fall Fundraising Recap

We are looking ahead to the spring and fun events we have planned! We would like to thank all of the families and friends of GCS who participated in the fall and winter Fundraisers, especially the Groton Community School Home Tour, amazing Classroom Chance Baskets, and Apparel Sale. They were so successful! Following is a summary of the funds raised:

Upcoming Events this Spring:

There are more fundraising opportunities to continue supporting GCS this Spring. Be sure to check the weekly email updates and newsletters for important information and deadlines on your favorite fundraisers!

– Square 1 Art: It’s time to order! Your child’s artwork is available to order on a variety of keepsake items, see the catalog that came home this week for details. Order deadline tomorrow March 28th!
– Spring Apparel Sale: Be sure to check out the latest styles of GCS gear and apparel to suit up the whole family for GCS Spirit Days and the Family Picnic in June!
– RaiseRight Gift Card Fundraiser: Purchase gift cards through RaiseRight at any time throughout the year and GCS will receive a rebate on every card purchased with no extra cost to you!
